About Akiko Shimamura, MD, PhD

Akiko Shimamura received her A.B. degree from Princeton University and her M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Rochester School of Medicine.  She completed an internship and residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and a fellowship at Children’s Hospital Boston and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.  She was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute postdoctoral fellow prior to becoming an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School.  She served as director of the bone marrow failure clinic at Children’s Hospital Boston.
