About Us

The FHCRC Research Cell Bank (RCB) is a Contract Service laboratory in the Program in Human Immunogenetics, Division of Clinical Research. The RCB provides cell banking services to researchers at FHCRC and for several NIDDK and NIH multi-center studies. We offer a varity of services including cell processing, DNA preparation, and cell storage on a contractual basis.

The RCB also operates two unique biorepositories. The largest and oldest RCB frozen specimen inventory belongs to the Transplant Genomics Biorepository. This is a centralized repository of frozen blood cells, DNA and other reagents derived from hematopoetic cell transplant (HCT) patients and donors, family members and selected volunteer donors. The donors and family units are also considered part of the RCB HLA Reference Standards. This inventory contains samples used during international histocompatibility workshops which are available as control and/or reference genes and alleles.
