Life in Seattle
Seattle is a great place to live and work (in our humble opinion). Here are some links to explore life in the northwest:
- Student/Postdoc Survival Guide - a lot of useful information on working at "the Hutch" and living in Seattle; compiled by the Student and Postdoc Advisory Committee (SPAC) at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
- "Seattle 101: A Guide for Travelers and Tourists" - travel info, maps, tourist attractions, history, etc. (Compiled by the City of Seattle)
- Visitors Guide - published by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
- "See Seattle" - more tourism and travel information, from the Seattle Convention and Visitors Bureau
- City of Seattle - official website of Seattle city government. The Community tab has extensive information on demographics, services, housing, parks, and neighborhoods.
- King County Government - content is similar in scope to City of Seattle's website, but includes a lot of information on cities and neighborhoods outside Seattle city limits.
- Metro Transit - information on public transit in Seattle and King County, operated by Metro Transit.
- Sound Transit information on public transit (bus and rail) between King, Pierce and Snohomish counties, operated by Sound Transit.
- Washington State Dept. of Transportation - Road maps, ferry schedules, biking/walking trails, etc.
- Seattle Post-Intelligencer - one of two daily newspapers published in Seattle.
- Seattle Times - one of two daily newspapers published in Seattle.
- Neighborhoods (Webtowns) - published by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, this site features information on many of the neighborhoods in the Puget Sound area, including King, Pierce and Snohomish counties. Information includes demographics, schools, activities, links to housing info, etc.
