Mouse Inventory Databases
Mouse Inventory Databases
A major challenge of maintaining an active mouse research program is
keeping an accurate inventory of the mouse colony. This page provides
links to
two different solutions that have been used locally.
Murine Pathology Database (MPD)
Read more details about the
MPD's features.
Amongst other things, the MPD
is a system for tracking a mouse colony, a freezer inventory, histology
records, plasmid maps and oligonucleotide sequences. A subset of the MPD, the Freezer and DNA templates, are available as separate downloads.

Mouse Lab
A comprehensive mouse database has been developed by the
Greenberg lab
with many advanced capabilities. It uses Cocoa (Mac OS X)
front-end on top of a MySQL database. which makes it extremely
fast with a large capacity. The database is "cage-centric"
meaning that it carefully tracks the physical location of cages within
a rack and within a room. A nice drag and drop interface
facilitates the movement of mice and cage lcations. Contact
Norm
Greenberg for more details.
